St Ninian Bowling Club – Solar Panel Project
St Ninian Bowling Club has completed a project to install solar panels and a battery storage system, significantly improving the energy efficiency of the club’s pavilion. Grant support was provided through the Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES), with the primary aim of reducing reliance on mains electricity and lowering the building’s overall carbon footprint.
The project involved the installation of 12 solar photovoltaic panels supported by a battery storage system. Together, these allow the club to make greater use of renewable energy generated on site while delivering environmental benefits and long-term cost savings.
The process began with AES Solar, now AES Renewables, carrying out a feasibility study. A Business Energy Scotland Energy Efficiency Assessment was also completed in April 2025. CARES staff provided advice throughout the planning and grant process.
The project is now complete and the club looks forward to a greener, more sustainable future. The photos feature Peter McIntosh, AES Renewables Technical Sales Manager, together with Allan Ewing.
